Have submitted necessary documents: Uber official

US-based mobile cab booking company Uber's local officials said on Thursday they have submitted "necessary documents" for the service's functioning following reports that the Delhi transport department has sought suggestions from the law department to block its app and website.

"We are not doing anything against the government. We have submitted all necessary documents to the transport department for smooth run of the services," said Gagan Bhatia, general manager for Uber Delhi, in a press conference here.

"We are in constant touch with the government over the issue. Now we hope for positive outcome of the talks," he added.

Bhatia also emphasised that the country has taken necessary steps for increasing safety measures, especially for women passengers.

"We have revamped the model in line with the government and will run it on the same platform the government wants. We have taken necessary steps for increasing safety measures especially for our women passengers," he said.

"Every driver driving in Delhi will have to produce either the public service vehicle badge or police clearance certificate to join the company," he added.

The cab services were banned by the Delhi government in December last year after one of its drivers was arrested on charges of raping a woman.
