The regional Met department on Wednesday forecast heavy rains in the Kumaon region in the next 48 hours, an official of the state government said.
Heavy rains had lashed many parts of the hill state also on Tuesday, including state capital Dehradun.
Director of the Regional Met Office Vikram Singh informed that a westerly disturbance was crossing the state and south-eastern winds laden with moisture was triggering the rains.
More than two dozen link roads, connecting district headquarters to various villages and small towns are in poor condition leading to disruption of traffic and causing problems to commuters and locals.
