After days of moderate to heavy rainfall, Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday saw subdued rainfall activity, a weather official said.

The maximum temperatures, however, rose by four to five notches.

"There were reports of scanty rainfall in state. Weather conditions are likely to remain the same till Wednesday," an official of the local Met office told IANS.

Kumarsain in Shimla district got 17 mm rain, while Banjar in Kullu district saw 3 mm rain.

The state capital recorded just one mm rain.

Most of the rivers in the state were in spate following the continuous rainfall. Incessant rains had also caused massive landslides on National Highways 21 and 22 in Shimla, Kinnaur, Mandi and Kullu districts, hampering vehicular traffic.

A government official said that as rainfall subdued, the water level in the Satluj, the Beas and the Yamuna rivers and their tributaries have receded.

The Met department has forecast rainfall in the state from July 16.
