It was a hot Friday in the national capital, with the maximum temperature recorded at 38 degrees Celsius, four notches above the season's average.

However, the mercury is set to dip within the next 24 hours by at least four degrees, as rains are expected from late Friday night and likely to continue for the entire Saturday.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the national capital will see good rainfall on Saturday and respite from the heat experienced over the last two days.

"Saturday will see thunderstorm with rains, in and around Delhi. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 34 degrees and minimum around 28 degrees," said an official from the IMD.

On Friday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 29 degrees, two notches below the season's average.

The humidity oscillated between 76 and 46 per cent.

Thursday's maximum temperature was 37.2 while the minimum temperature stood at 29.2 degrees Celsius.
