The city experienced a hot and humid day on Monday with the maximum temperature settling at 36.7 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season's average, the Met office said. It has forecast light rain or drizzle on Tuesday.
"Generally cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle is likely to occur in some areas on Tuesday," said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 37 and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively.
It was a partly cloudy Monday morning in the national capital with the minimum temperature recorded at 28.6 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season's average, while the humidity oscillated between 87 and 55 per cent.
Sunday's maximum temperature was recorded 36.5 degrees Celsius, two notches above the average while the minimum temperature settled at 26.4 degrees, a notch below the average.
