Visiting Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay Wednesday told External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj that India's and Bhutan's security interests were intertwined and assured her of his country's support against militants.
This was tweeted by external affairs ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin.
Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh also met the Bhutanese prime minister who thanked India for its support to Bhutan's development.
Both sides discussed matters of mutual interest related to hydropower, areas of security, and other areas of cooperation.
Both also held talks on working towards realising the target of producing 10,000 MW of electricity. They also discussed the recent violence in Assam and on improving border security, according to Bhutanese media reports.
