Indian and Pakistan troopers traded heavy fire early morning today along the line of control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu region.
"Pakistan army resorted to heavy unprovoked firing at our positions in Shahpur sector of the LoC around midnight," a defence spokesman told IANS here.
"They are using small arms and automatic weapons to target our positions. Our troopers are effectively
retaliating the firing," he added.
Intermittent firing exchanges were going on in the area when last reports came in.
On Saturday, five civilians were injured in the same area when Pakistan army resorted to indiscriminate, unprovoked firing.
