There is a paradigm shift in the changing energy requirement and prepare and the country should prepare itself to create a more sustainable future, Power Minister Piyush Goyal said here on Thursday.

"We must understand the changing energy requirement paradigm and prepare ourselves to create a more sustainable future. The industry should now work on bringing next-level of revolution - Industry 2.0 - and help the government achieve its vision of creating an efficient and smart energy efficient India, and leave a healthier legacy for generations to come, Goyal said at the Consumer Electronics and Appliances Manufacturers Association's (CEAMA) 36th Annual Function.

Electronics and Information Technology Secretary J.S Deepak said the government is with the electronics industry to promote manufacturing in the sector.

"The electronics policy notified by the government is a testimony of its commitment to the growth and development of electronics hardware in the country to promote large-scale manufacturing, offset disability and attract domestic and global investments into the Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector in India," he added.

In his address, CEAMA president Manish Sharma said that industry is continuously working towards creating smart and efficient lives for consumers.

"However, with the increasing demand and related short supply of electricity, the industry now has an additional responsibility of creating green and energy efficient products and solutions which will help transform India into a smarter nation," said Sharma, who is managing director of Panasonic India & South Asia.
