Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday said the Indian heritage and culture are very rich and teach the world about peace.
"We believe in 'Sarve Jana Sukhino Bhawantu', we must respect everyone and live peacefully," he said, after offering prayers to Lord Venkateswara Swami in Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati, as per a release.
"Our ancestors have always taught us to be helpful to everyone around and not discriminate on the basis of caste, creed or religion."
Naidu, along with his family, visited Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam and greeted people ahead of the auspicious festival of Sankranti.
Addressing reporters, he said they should "perform their duty with discipline and dedication".
