Israeli forces Tuesday shelled Syrian positions in the southern province of Qunaitera near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, a monitoring group reported.
The Israeli shelling against positions of the Syrian army in Qunaitera was preceded by two explosions that were heard in the Israeli-occupied territory, Xinhjua news agency reported citing the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported, spelling no further details.
Other reports said that two mortar shells slammed into the Israeli-occupied territory ahead of the Israeli firing.
There has been no reports of losses or casualties, and official comments are also unavailable.
The incident, if confirmed, would be the second Israeli strike to hit targets in Syria this month. Earlier this month, an Israeli warplane targeted a convoy of the Lebanese Hezbollah militants in Qunaitera, killing five.
