Jaisha, Lalita to take part in Kolkata 25K run

Top Indian athletes, including the likes of O.P. Jaisha, Lalita Babar and Sudha Singh, will compete in the Tata Steel Kolkata 25K to be held on December 20.

This is the second edition of the race, with it being the country's first accredited 25-km distance running event.

Kerala's Jaisha is the current full marathon national record holder for her performance at the Mumbai Marathon 2015 and achieved her personal best at the full marathon at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing.

She is also a former national record holder in the 3,000 metres steeplechase.

Lalita will also be a strong favourite as she regained the title in the Delhi Half Marathon among the Indians. She is the current Indian national record holder in the 3,000m steeplechase.

She is a three-time winner of the Mumbai Marathon and recently won the Federation Cup Senior National Athletics Championships.

Sudha, a consistent performer in steeplechase events, is an Asian Games gold medallist in 2010.

Apart from these, there are 22 other noted Indian athletes that will participate in the second edition of the run.
