Star Japanese swimmer Kosuke Hagino announced on Friday that he will not compete in the World championships to be held from July 24 - August 9 after injuring his right elbow during training.

Olympic bronze medallist in the 400 metres individual medley swimming event Hagino broke his right elbow, when he fell off a bike at the national team's training camp in France. He returned to Japan on Thursday, and was diagnosed with an elbow fracture, reports Xinhua.

"This is very regrettable because my form was getting better," the 20-year-old Hagino, four-time 2014 Asian Games champion, told a press conference here.

Meanwhile, Olympic and world 200 metres freestyle champion Yannick Agnel suffered from pleurisy, costing him the chance to defend his world title.

South Korean Park Tae-hwan is still serving a 18-month ban after a doping storm. In the 2012 London Games's 200m freestyle, Park nailed a silver medal after finishing the tough game with China's Sun Yang at the same time.

All this enhances Sun's possible domination in Kazan pools. Olympic and world champion Sun won gold in 400 metres and 1,500 metres freestyle in London, but Frenchman Yannick Agnel defeated him in the 200 metres race.
