The JMM on Friday demanded an apology from the All India Muslim Personal Law Board General Secretary for saying that JMM President Shibu Soren had "59 wives".
"(Maulana Wali) Rehmani's remark reflects his mindset. He should apologize," Jharkhand Mukti Morcha General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya told reporters here.
Rehmani made the remark in New Delhi on Thursday.
"The JMM President has only one wife. The '59 wives' remark has created resentment among the JMM cadre," said Bhattacharya.
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board does not have the right to insult anyone or indulge in character assassination, Bhattacharya added.
