Juventus come from behind to beat AC Milan

Juventus came back from a goal down to beat AC Milan 3-2 at home, continuing their chase of Serie A football leaders Roma.

With Sunday night's win, Juventus moved alevel on points with Napoli who thrashed Livorno 4-0 at home in an earlier game, and both teams are ranked second with just two points behind Roma, reports Xinhua.

AC Milan went ahead with only 19 seconds into play through Sulley Muntari, but Andrea Pirlo levelled the score with a free-kick against his former club at the 15th minute.

Sebastian Giovinco then put Juventus in front with 21 minutes to play, finishing well just inside the box, five minutes before Milan defender Philippe Mexes was sent off.

Another Pirlo free-kick delighted the home fans with 15 minutes left, but this time his effort hit the post, with defender Giorgio Chiellini first to react, scoring from close range. And although Muntari set up a nervy finish with a stoppage time goal, Antonio Conte's side held on for victory.

AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri insisted that his side played well despite the loss.

"It was a good performance, though we made a few mistakes and allowed Juventus too many chances. Both sides did well tonight, but we made more errors than they did," he said.

The Milan side amassed eight points from seven matches, but Allegri refused to panic.

Napoli cruised to an easy win over Livorno at the Stadio San Paolo.

Goran Pandev made the early breakthrough in Naples, further goals from Gokhan Inler and Jose Callejon guaranteed the Azzurri would close to within two points of the capital club before Marek Hamsik added a fourth at the death.

Lazio missed the chance to move up to fifth place in after a goalless draw with Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico.

Lazio did most of the running, creating enough chances to win the game, but failed to beat Fiorentina goalkeeper Neto.

Parma heaped further misery on rock-bottom Sassuolo with a 3-1 victory in a match which saw both sides reduced to 10 men.

Udinese climbed into the top half of the table while prolonging their impressive unbeaten home run with a 2-0 victory over Cagliari.

Hellas Verona claimed their first Serie A away win in style on Sunday afternoon with an emphatic 4-1 victory at struggling Bologna.

Winless Sampdoria rescued a point at the death to stun Torino, while a late own goal from Nicola Legrottaglie handed Genoa a valuable point from a 1-1 draw at Catania.
