President Pranab Mukherjee transferred Karnataka High Court judge Justice Karanam Sreedhar Rao to the Gauhati High Court, an official statement said Thursday.
"After consulting the Chief Justice of India (P. Sathasivam), the president has transferred Justice K. Sreedhar Rao to Gauhati High Court and directed him to assume charge on or before Oct 24," the statement said here.
The Advocates Association of Bangalore in August petitioned Chief Justice Sathasivam to transfer Rao from the high court following a controversy over a case related to land dispute in the city in which his son Phaniraj Kashyap was allegedly involved.
