Delhi Chief Minister-designate and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here Thursday to invite him to the his oath-taking ceremony scheduled for February 14.

However, Modi has declined the invitation due to an earlier engagement, deputy CM designate Manish Sisodia, who accompanied Kejriwal, told television channels after emerging from the meeting.

The PM, however, assured the AAP leaders of full co-operation to the Delhi government.

As expected, Kejriwal also raised the issue of full statehood for Delhi with the Prime Minister.

On Wednesday, Kejriwal, along with deputy CM-designate Manish Sisodia, met Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and called on President Pranab Mukherjee.

“We discussed four key issues on which we will require the minister’s assistance. He assured us of full co-operation, irrespective of political differences,” Sisodia said after meeting Naidu.

“We want to build schools, colleges, hospitals and parking lots and for that, we would require large parcels of land from DDA (Delhi Development Authority). In future, we will also need Centre’s help on the full statehood issue,” he added.

After AAP swept the Delhi polls yesterday in a landslide victory grabbing 67 seats in the 70-member Assembly, the Prime Minister had congratulated Kejriwal on his thumping victory and assured him of all support from the Centre for development of the national capital.
