Malayalam superstar Dileep, arrested in connection with the abduction and molestation of a popular actress, was on Wednesday sent to two days police custody by a court here.

Dileep's counsel moved a bail application, but the court decided to hear it after the police custody ends.

The police sought three days custody, but the court gave them two days for further questioning of the popular actor.

The actor's counsel denied all the charges related to conspiracy in the abduction and molestation of the actress in February.

Dileep was brought to the court in a police van amidst tight security with a convoy of police vehicles as there were intelligence reports that the public ire against the actor could lead to trouble.

The actor, who hails from Aluva, was hooted by a large crowd when he was taken from the van to the court.

The police during the custody period are expected to take him to the places where the conspiracy was allegedly hatched.

The police is likely to summon a few more personalities from the film industry for questioning.

Dileep was arrested on Monday night after a daylong questioning. On Tuesday morning, he was remanded to 14 days judicial custody.

In his 25 years as an actor, he has featured in over 130 films. He also owns his own production company besides a good number of multiplexes.

A week after the abduction incident, the police probe team arrested Pulsar Suni and his aides, who allegedly carried out the kidnapping.

Trouble began for Dileep last month after his name surfaced in a jail inmate's letter who had shared the cell with Suni.

Following this, Dileep was called for questioning. During the marathon questioning for 13 hours, he claimed that he did not know Suni and was let off. But by then the police had established the fact that Suni was at the shooting location of Dileep's film in November at Thrissur. A photo of Suni at the film locales was released by TV channels.

On Tuesday, Dileep's name was struck off the rolls of the membership of Association of Malayalam Movies Artistes (AMMA), of which he was treasurer.

He was also removed from the producers association and also from the exhibitor's body.
