Korea to open Consul General office in Chandigarh

South Korea Ambassador Cho Hyun will be visiting Chandigarh for three days from December 22 in connection with opening of a Consul Generals' office here, it was announced on Sunday.

During his visit, the envoy will also be visiting various other institutions and business facilities in and around Chandigarh to further strengthen cultural, educational, business and investment relations between his country andPunjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh region.

The opening of Consul General office in Chandigarh will provide limited consular assistance in the region, said a Korean embassy said in a statement.

It said Hyun would formally announce appointment of Jagdip Singh, Chairman of the Sigma Group of Industries, one of the leading manufacturer and exporter of auto components, as First Honorary Consul General in Chandigarh.

Hyun, along with Singh, will be visiting institutions and tourists spots, including Sigma Freudenberg NOK (SFN) auto manufacturing unit in Basma, near Banur in Punjab, the IT Park in Chandigarh, the Infosys Technology Park, the Net Solutions Campus and the Panjab University.

The Ambassador will also visit the famous Rock Garden and Rose Garden.
