Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD leader Lalu Prasad on Monday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to refute RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's suggestion on reviewing job quotas for Dalits and OBCs.

"Why has Modi not refuted Mohan Bhagwat's remarks? If he favours reservation for Dalits and OBCs, Modi must publicly denounce him," Nitish Kumar told an election rally at Arwal, about 80 km from here.

Nitish Kumar said Modi had been forced to say that job quotas would continue because of the ongoing Bihar assembly polls.

"But Modi has no guts to say 'no' to the RSS chief's suggestion to review the reservation policy."

Addressing a separate meeting also at Arwal, Lalu Prasad wanted to know why Modi was silent on the reservation issue after the RSS chief demanded an end to it.

He should have either condemned the statement or provided a clarification. "Both Mohan Bhagwat and Modi are anti-reservation and anti-Dalit and anti-OBCs."

Arwal will go to the polls in the second round of polling to the Bihar assembly on October 16.
