The Uttar Pradesh government has allotted land for construction of All India Institute Of Medical Science (AIIMS) in the state's Gorakhpur district, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said on Wednesday.
Now, it was up to the central government to set up the premier medical institute there, he added.
Yadav told reporters that the central government had conveyed to his administration that the land given for AIIMS was not appropriate as the road leading up to it was not proper.
"If so is the case, we are ready to construct a four-lane road connecting to the proposed site for the institute," he added.
Yadav was in Gorakhpur to attend a function to mark the second anniversary of the Madan Mohan Malviya Technical University.
