The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to install LED street-lights across the state, an official said Friday.
The decision to install LED lights on streets, roads, government buildings and parks was taken Thursday at a meeting of power officials with Alok Ranjan, chief secretary.
The chief secretary has called urban development authorities, municipal corporation officials for the meeting so that the project could be taken up as early as possible, the official told IANS here.
Power crisis in the state and efforts to ensure clean energy have been cited as the reasons behind the move.
"The project has been approved by the chief minister and we are planning to start it as soon as possible," the official said.
