Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal on Thursday asked Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to recommence recruitment process of teachers by the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board) which had been kept on hold.
"Withholding the recruitment process by DSSSB for appointment of teachers in Education Department, for such a long period is bound to have an adverse impact on students due to paucity of regular teachers," said an official statement from the Lt. Governor's office.
The Delhi Assembly on August 10 had passed a resolution to put on hold the recruitment of teachers by the DSSSB till a criterion is readied to give weightage to guest teachers.
On Wednesday, the Delhi Cabinet passed a Bill to make 15,000 guest teachers permanent but the Delhi High Court also ordered that it "maintain status quo" and "not either appoint or promote the guest teachers till October 11".
