The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday witnessed a major re-shuffle in key positions in the party organisation with party president Amit Shah appointing three vice-presidents and general secretaries and four secretaries.
Former party general secretary Om Mathur has been appointed vice-president, Shyam Jaju has been elevated to the position of vice-president from the post of secretary and former Punjab BJP president Avinash Rai Khanna has been appointed vice-president.
The most significant appointment in this reshuffle was of Kailash Vijayvargiya, a cabinet minister in Madhya Pradesh government, who has been made general secretary.
Arun Singh, a relative of Home Minister Rajnath Singh, has been elevated to the post of general secretary from secretary's post. Anil Jain, who was secretary in-charge of the party affairs in Haryana, was also promoted as general secretary.
Suresh Pujari, Mahendra Singh, Mahesh Giri and Farooq Khan have been appointed as party secretaries.
Shah was under tremendous pressure to fill positions after many of the party office-bearers had been made ministers last November.
Shah had announced his first team for the party organisation in last July after taking over as party president.
