Malaysia Airlines has been asked for a report by Wednesday on what prompted a flight bound for India's Bangalore city to turn back.
"I give them two days. On Wednesday, I want to see an early report as this is not something like MH370 that is missing in the Indian Ocean, it is related to the condition of the of the landing gear," Xinhua cited acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein as saying.
He said these sort of incidents should not happen.
"The passengers, despite being tired, expressed their admiration for the pilot's skillful handling of the aircraft in making the emergency landing safely without any harm to the passengers," Hussein said as he praised the pilot.
Malaysia Airlines Flight 192 headed for Bangalore with 166 people on board had to return to Kuala Lumpur late Sunday following a technical glitch it developed on take off.
The Boeing 737 touched down just before 2 a.m. local time because its landing gear had malfunctioned on takeoff.
