A woman was burnt to death by her husband in West Bengal's Jhargram district on Wednesday after a heated dispute over dowry, police said.
Sachin Raut, a resident of Jhargram's Beliabera area, poured kerosene over his wife Purnima and set her on fire before fleeing, a police officer said.
Purnima's family accused Sachin and his family of demanding dowry, police said.
"According to the complaint, Sachin often harassed his wife over the pending amount of dowry. The husband and the wife reportedly had a heated exchange on Wednesday morning over the issue," police said.
Sachin has been arrested while his mother is still on the run.
