Man electrocuted, 26 injured in Telangana Muharram procession

A Muharram procession turned tragic in Telangana's Nizamabad district Tuesday as one person was electrocuted and 26 others were injured after coming in contact with a high tension wire.

Police said the accident occurred during a procession in Machapur in Yellareddy mandal, about 250 km from here.

The tragedy struck the procession when a person carrying 'alam' (symbol) came in contact with a high tension wire. The man - identified as 35-year-old Saiulu - died on the spot.

At least 26 others, including 17 students, were injured. Five of them were in critical condition and were taken to Hyderabad for treatment.
