A man Thursday escaped death after a 12-feet-long iron rod impaled him when he fell at a construction site here, police said.
The victim has been identified as Rinku, 30, a resident of Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh.
"He was working here at the construction site of Ansal Housing in sector 86 and fell from the second floor upon an iron rod (fixed in the foundation for a pillar)," a police officer told IANS.
The rod passed through Rinku's left hip. He was admitted to a private hospital where he was operated upon. His condition is stable.
"The rod was taken out," said a doctor who performed the operation.
"We are waiting for the statement of the victim. As of now, he is not in a position to record it," the police officer added.
