Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati is scheduled to visit Shabbirpur village in Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, where a caste conflict had erupted in April and many Dalits were targeted.
She will drive down from Delhi to Saharanpur on Tuesday, a party leader said on Monday.
Zonal coordinator of BSP Naresh Gautam said the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister would be accompanied by party leaders Satish Chandra Mishra and Munqad Ali.
En route to the village in Saharanpur, she would also meet party workers at Mansoorpur, Maleera village and Rampur Tiraha. She would spend two hours with the victims and talk to them before returning to the national capital.
Informed sources said Mayawati's visit, the first of its kind in a long time, is owing to the recent inroads made by a regional Dalit outfit Bheem Army, which took up the caste conflict issue and had also held a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
The party has suffered huge electoral reverses in the 2014 parliamentary elections and the 2017 state assembly polls.
