All-Star player and former scoring champion Tracy McGrady announced his retirement from the National Basketball Association (NBA).

McGrady played six playoff games last season for San Antonio Spurs, who lost in the NBA finals to the Miami Heat after he left Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) club Qingdao Eagles in April. The 34-year-old, who retired Monday, was a seven-time All-Star player and two-time league scoring champion, reports Xinhua.

McGrady was the ninth overall pick in the 1997 draft out of high school. In 2001, he was named the NBA's most improved player. He averaged 19.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 938 career games with Toronto, Orlando, Houston, New York, Detroit, Atlanta and San Antonio.
