A Romanian, part of a six-member gang broke into an ATM in the Kerala capital, has been picked up when he arrived at a Kenyan airport on Friday, police said.
The Kerala Police, which had sought the Interpol's help to issue a red corner notice for Alexandro Mariano, got information from Kenya that he has been arrested.
A team of Kerala Police officers will now leave for Kenya to bring Mariano to the state capital.
Last August, a gang of six Romanians tampered an ATM of the State Bank of India, using duplicate ATM cards and withdrew Rs 2.50 lakh.
Soon after the theft came to light, police arrested two Romanians and was on the lookout for the rest of the gang, who were all identified from their passports, which they had submitted while checking into a hotel in Thiruvananthapuram.
