After hosting the 2015 FIBA (International Basketball Federation) Americas Championship Olympic Qualifying Tournament last month, Mexico officially requested to be the seat of the FIBA Playoffs.
The Mexican Basketball Association (Ademeba) on Saturday informed that Mexico officially requested FIBA to be the host of Men's Playoffs, said Ademeba President Modesto Robledo, reports Xinhua.
Robledo said Mexico's National Physical Culture and Sports Committee (Conade) made the official request on Sunday so Mexico City will organize the basketball competition.
He also said FIBA will announce in November the seat of the FIBA Playoffs where three tickets will be granted for 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
So far, France, Serbia, Greece, Italy, Czech Republic, Canada, Puerto Rico, Angola, Tunisia, Senegal, New Zealand and Mexico will be at the FIBA Playoffs.
