Compared to last year, more Indians are now choosing to visit and study in the United Kingdom, a survey conducted by the UK's National Statistics Office said on Friday.
According to the study, there is a 32 per cent increase in student visas and a 10 per cent increase in visit visas.
"(A total of) 550,925 Indians were granted UK visas in the year ending June 2018, a 10 per cent increase on the previous year. Visit visas increased by 10 per cent to 454,658, which demonstrates that Indians are continuing to choose the UK as a holiday destination," said a statement from the British High Commission.
"The latest figures reinforce a trend we have noticed for some time - that across the board more and more Indians are choosing the UK as a destination to visit, work in and study. This is fantastic," British High Commissioner to India Dominic Asquith said.
Looking at the statistics, the UK has announced the launch of the Chevening Scholarship and Fellowship programmes for 2019-20.
Chevening Scholarships offer full financial support for one year for candidates to pursue a Master's degree at any UK university.
