More than 1,000 migrants, six corpses reach Sicily

Messina (Italy), Oct 26 (IANS/AKI) A total of 1,050 migrants arrived in the Sicilian port of Messina on Wednesday aboard an Italian coastguard vessel after they were rescued from the Mediterranean.

The corpses of six migrants who perished were also on board the ship.

Over 6,700 migrants were rescued in the Channel of Sicily between Friday and Tuesday, as well as 17 corpses, according to the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).
