Popularly known as "Dr. Dadi", Padma Shri Dr. Bhakti Yadav passed away here on Monday. She was 91.
She served the humanity for 64 years as a doctor and helped over a lakh pregnant women deliver their babies safely. Indore Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Dubey confirmed the news of Yadav's death.
The late doctor, who had been conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri award last year, had not been keeping well for some time and breathed her last at her residence here.
Yadav was the first woman doctor of the local Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and was often referred to as the first gynaecologist of the country.
She kept offering her medical services to women until the last days of her life.
