Mudslide kills 5 of family in J&K

Five members of a family were killed on Monday in a mudslide in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district, police said.

The mudslide hit the house of Noor Muhammad in Galli Bhatoli village.

"A rescue operation was launched with the help of the Army. So far, five bodies including that of a minor have been recovered. Some sheep and cattle were also buried," a police officer said.

Heavy rains have lashed the Jammu region during the last two days.

The situation is expected to improve from Monday, according to weather authorities.
