Actor Rahul Venkat, who impressed audiences with his debut performance as the baddie in last week's Tamil actioner "Thakka Thakka", says he wants to focus on Tamil filmdom and await better opportunities.

"I'm really happy the way Tamil audiences have received me. Last week as I came out of a cinema hall in Chennai after watching the movie, some people recognized me and asked me to mimic a scene from the film. They didn't let me go until I did it," Venkat told IANS.

In the film, he essayed the role of a local don called Parama, and his menacing performance has caught lot of attention.

"Producer Thanu's Kalaipuli International, which distributed 'Thakka Thakka', was so impressed with my performance that he told he wants to cast me in his next production. The paperwork is yet to be done, but it feels nice when a leading producer showers appreciation on a newcomer like me," he said.

Despite playing the lead roles in two Telugu films, Rahul chose to enter Tamil industry as a villain.

He says he has qualms about his decision.

"All the stars started their careers by playing villains. I've always been fascinated by a good role and it doesn't matter if it's the hero or villain. But it's important that I don't end up getting stereotyped as a villain. I'll always keep that in mind," he said.

He's currently shooting for a yet-untitled Telugu-Tamil bilingual.
