Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday called for an urgent need to dismantle militant camps in Bhutan, Bangladesh and Myanmar.

"The northeastern militants get food, shelter and training in these countries. There is need to intensify security along the India-Myanmar border," Gogoi told reporters here.

"The strength of forces manning the border must be increased. This will prevent militants from entering India and check the same at the source," he said.

"I have taken up with the union home minister during his meeting of chief ministers that there is need for an operation in Myanmar with the help of the Myanmar government. Operation in Myanmar must go in full swing."

Gogoi said Rajnath Singh called him up on Friday in the wake of violence by the anti-talk faction of ULFA (United Liberation Front of Asom) militants in Tinsukia district. The ULFA militants on Tuesday gunned down two people in the district.

He said Assam Police have nabbed the two ULFA linkmen, who were associated with the Tinsukia killing.

"An operation has been launched against the ULFA. We have information that the group is trying to carry out subversive activities in Jorhat and Guwahati," Gogoi said.
