Citing wrong translations available on Google translator, Vice President Hamid Ansari here on Friday emphasised on having a good translation system in Indian academic institutions.

"If a research done anywhere, in any language, can be beneficial, then I feel that it should be translated immediately. Google translates it, but does it wrong. Whenever I tried Google Translate, I could translate only half of what I wanted.

"Only experts can do it and we have to encourage that in our country. There is a crucial need to have a good translation system in Indian academic institutions," Ansari said at the release of the Hindi translation of "An Indian Political Life: Charan Singh and Congress Politics" by leading political scientist Paul Richard Brass.

"It is very important for scholars of india to understand the depth of scholarship which Bradd has shown in studying in India," he said, calling upon Indian scholars to "understand the pedagogy and methodology" that Brass has used in his studies here.

The book includes an extensive analysis of the issues, movements, and political conflicts that marked the late pre-independence and early post-independence era.

According to Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, very few people know about Chaudhary Charan Singh's family's contribution to the independence of the nation.

"He himself had such great contributions to make for this country. Generations will know a lot about him and remember him through these books," Azad said.

Senior Janata Dal-United leader Sharad Yadav, who was also present at the launch, said that success as a politician can be achieved but a sincere leader can show the right path to his people.

"Charan Singh Ji has had an influence on people everywhere. I have spent a lot of time with him and I know that only a responsible and committed man can do what he did for the country," he said.
