Marrakech, April 21 (IANS) The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria lashed Congo 7-0 here to qualify from Group B for the semi-finals of the ongoing 10th African Under-17 Football Championship.
Congo played for about an hour with nine men after two expulsions (32nd and 39th minutes) but Nigeria were already 2-0 up at the time of the first expulsion Saturday, reports Xinhua.
In the same group, Cote d'Ivoire qualified for the semis although they drew 0-0 with Ghana in Casablanca. The Ivorians qualified with five points while Congo and Ghana, with two points apiece, are eliminated.
In the semi-finals, Nigeria will meet Group A runners-up Tunisia here Wednesday, a day after the semifinal clash between Group A winner Morocco and Cote d'Ivoire in Casablanca.
From Group A Gabon and Botswana were eliminated.
