Nine Haqqani Network militants were killed in two airstrikes within the last 24 hours in Afghanistan, the Defence Ministry said on Sunday.
Four militants were killed when Afghan air force warplane struck militants' position in Baraspari village of Achin district in Nangarhar province, Xinhua news agency quoted a ministry statement as saying.
Five militants died in an airstrike in Chak district of neighbouring Wardak province, the statement said.
As a Taliban-linked group, the Haqqani Network, mainly operating in eastern provinces and Kabul, has been responsible for many high-profile attacks on security forces.
It was designated as a terrorist group by the US in 2012.
