Communications Advisor to the Andhra Pradesh government and Union minister Nirmala Sitharaman's husband Parakala Prabhakar underwent a successful heart surgery here and is recovering, official sources said on Saturday.
The surgery was performed on Monday by a team of doctors led by Ramakant Panda at the Asian Heart Institute (AHI), a private hospital, the sources said.
Prabhakar is steadily recuperating after the operation and is likely to be discharged from the hospital in a few days, they said.
Prabhakar's wife Nirmala Sitharaman, their daughter and other family members were present beside him, they said.
Sitharaman is Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Commerce and Industry in the central government and belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
