DMK president M. Karunanidhi Saturday told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that there is no legal bar on the constitution of Cauvery Management Board to oversee sharing of water between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
The issue pending in the apex court "is no bar to constitute the Cauvery Management Board, because the Supreme Court has not granted interim injunctions to the order passed by the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal", Karunanidhi said in a letter to Modi which was released here.
He said on the notification of the Tribunal's order in the official gazette, the adhoc bodies constituted to supervise the implementation of the final award will be replaced by the Cauvery Management Board.
