Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa Tuesday announced the removal of restrictions on power supply across the state from next month, in view of the expected augmentation through wind power generation.
"Taking into account the wind power generation from June onwards, the restrictions on supply of power will be removed entirely from June 1st onwards," Jayalalithaa said in a statement here.
The entire amount of wind power generated will be used by the state, she added.
Jayalalithaa said that for the past five days, there has been no power cut in the state.
According to her, the state will procure 3,300 MW of power on long-term basis. The procurement of power under the contract will begin from August onwards.
The decision to remove the restrictions in power supply was taken following a review meeting of the electricity situation in the state chaired by Jayalalithaa here Tuesday.
