Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday barred party leadership from welcoming him on his return to the country after successful open-heart surgery and directed them to call off all reception ceremonies planned in his honour.
In a message to the people of Pakistan, Sharif said he did not know that a big welcome ceremony has been arranged on his return to Pakistan. He purely recognises peoples' love and sincerity, "by the grace of God a sensitive and stage-wise operation, was completed successfully and safely", a statement from the Prime Minister's office said.
Sharif also said that as soon as doctors would allow him to travel, he will be back among his own people.
