A new two-wheeler taxi service that can be hailed by a commuter on the spot was launched here on Monday.
The M-TAXI service was launched by Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner T.L. Satyaprakash and Road Transport Authority secretary Sushil Sarwan.
The initial launch in Gurgaon will be followed in the next phase with a launch across the National Capital Region (NCR). The service will also be available on a mobile app.
The motorcycle, the rider and the passenger -- all will be insured.
All riders will have to go through stringent background verification and will be trained on aspects of safety, etiquette, efficiency and hygiene.
Commuters will be provided with a disposable hair cap and helmet.
Sarwan said a millennium city like Gurgaon "is in need of new age transport service to ease the last mile connectivity for daily commuters".
He said the new service will focus on safety and hygiene of the riders and passengers alike.
