Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah Sunday said he would connect to the people of the state at large to introspect over the rout of his party in the Lok Sabha elections.

He promised that he would like to make "amends" to improve performance of the ruling National Conference (NC).

"I have started the process of introspection & am listening to voices within the party but I need to hear from people other than colleague(s)," Omar Abdullah wrote on his Twitter handle.

"I want to learn, I NEED to learn. I'd like to try & make amends. I'll give it my best shot & I'd rather fail trying than not try at all," Omar Abdullah wrote.

The National Conference was routed in the general elections. Omar Abdullah's father and sitting MP Farooq Abdullah lost in Srinagar constituency.

Of the state's six Lok Sabha seats, the People's Democratic Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party won three each.
