Music mogul Simon Cowell feels that members of One Direction band might eventually part ways and follow independent careers.

The band, comprising Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan, came together after participating in Cowell's singing reality show "The X Factor" in 2010 and reached heights of fame.

Cowell won't be surprised if the band decides to split.

"Eventually they probably will split up and maybe want to have their own careers," Billboard magazine quoted Cowell as saying.

"The choice is theirs, we've got the opportunity to do both. But from what I hear, they're really enjoying what they're doing," he added.

The band has given hits like "Little things", "Best song ever" and "Story of my life".

While Cowell believes that there is nothing wrong in following independent careers, he hopes that the members stay as a band for a long time.

"We don't feel there's anything wrong. They're getting more time off. I hope they stay a band for a long time," said Cowell.
