A bank customer was injured at a bank in south Delhi on Tuesday after the bank guard's service weapon went off accidentally.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Romil Baaniya said guard Rudra Pal Singh, a retired Army man, posted at the Vijaya Bank's Defence Colony branch negligently fired a shot around 1.30 p.m., injuring Rajender Singh from Mithapur in Badarpur area.
Rajender is undergoing treatment at a hospital. The firearm and five cartridges have been seized by police.
"The guard was taken into custody and booked under Sections 336 and 337 of the Indian Penal Code for endangering the lives and personal safety of others and Section 30 of the Arms Act," the officer said.
