One person was shot dead and two others were critically injured when a friend of the groom's brother allegedly opened fire at a wedding reception in West Bengal's Bardhaman Paschim district, police said.
"One woman was killed and two others seriously injured in the firing that occurred during the wedding reception at Kankrasol in Asansol town," a police source said.
Eyewitnesses claimed the accused, a friend of the groom's brother, suddenly started firing around 8 p.m.
The groom's brother and two women sustained bullet injuries and were rushed to the hospital. One of the women was pronounced dead. The condition of the two injured is said to be serious.
The locals severely beat up the accused, who has also been hospitalised. Police have already taken him in the custody.
