Over 50 in Delhi varsity denied Ph.D. admission: DUTA

More than 50 Delhi University students denied admission to the Ph.D. course in Modern Indian Languages and Literary Studies must get provisional admission, a teacher activist said Friday.

Sachin N. of the Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) told IANS that the admission has been denied due to late declaration of the Masters result by the same varsity.

"It is a travesty that these candidates were denied the opportunity for admissions due to no fault of theirs," Sachin said.

IANS contacted the Dean of Examination and the department of Modern Indian Languages for their reaction. But they declined to comment.

Students applying for the Ph.D. programme were called for the entrance examination. Those who qualified were called for viva.

It was during the admission process that the authorities notified that admission could not be given as their results had not come out, Sachin said.

"They should be granted provisional admission till the results are out," he said.
